Venetian Plaster Ceiling with Backlighting

The ceiling serves as the main feature of this luxury bedroom in Kirkland. We designed a custom recessed ceiling with built-in perimeter lighting, which gently fills the space with soft, ambient light. Instead of a simple painted surface, we chose hand-applied Venetian plaster for its luxury, movement, and reflective qualities.

We carefully layered and troweled the plaster to create a lively, dynamic look—evoking sky, clouds, and shadows. Its natural variations in tone and sheen catch the recessed lighting, shifting the room’s mood from warm and calm in the morning to dramatic and sultry at night. This ceiling not only adds visual interest but also sets the tone for the entire room. The directional lighting, coming from above and around, influenced every design choice afterward, making this feature a key element of this high-end bedroom renovation in Kirkland.

Statement Chandelier: Dripping Crystal with Sculptural Impact

Centered in the Kirkland luxury primary bedroom, the cascading crystal chandelier resembles wisteria’s organic drape, creating a stunning focal point. Its airy, sculptural shape combines elegance with drama, while it casts flickering light that interacts beautifully with mirrors and soft finishes. Carefully positioned to keep sightlines clear, it anchors the space and highlights the room’s organic, artistic style as a bold design feature.

Custom Wall Paneling: Framing the Focal Point

In this Kirkland bedroom, custom floor-to-ceiling wall paneling was designed to frame the bed, thereby adding height and visual interest while balancing the chandelier above. Finished in matte charcoal, it provides depth and subtly conceals wiring; additionally, it creates a striking contrast against the soft ceiling textures. Carefully crafted by ARIID’s in-house team, every seam and detail was thoughtfully executed to transform this high-end bedroom into an unforgettable, sophisticated sanctuary.

Mirrored Panels, Ceiling Pendants & Ambient Lighting

On each side of the bed, large vertical mirror panels behind the nightstands and pendant lights enhance reflection, symmetry, and the sense of space. Moreover, these elements work beautifully together, especially when paired with the floating crystal chandelier and backlighting. Additionally, the custom ceiling-mounted pendants were carefully installed at the ideal height, offering both functional task lighting and a warm, candle-like glow at night. Consequently, this layered approach to lighting—from chandeliers to mirrors—creates a soft, luxurious ambiance that naturally elevates the room’s refined and elegant aesthetic.

Every detail in this Kirkland bedroom was thoughtfully designed, from the deep charcoal, soft white plaster, and warm metals to the layout, lighting controls, and storage solutions.
